Shogun is by far one of the most loved period drama series. This show takes us to 17th-century Japan and tells us the tale of John Blackthorne, an English sailor who has found his way to the coast of Japan. Initially, he was seen as a threat but grew to be a close ally of Yoshii Toranaga, who was trying to pave his way to the top of the ruling class in Japan and become the Shogun.
Whether you look at it from a storytelling or cinematic perspective, this show is an absolute masterpiece. If you are slightly skeptical about watching it thinking Shogun to be just another political drama, trust me when I say it, there is nothing “Just another” about this show.

The setting of the show is pretty similar to HIMYM and so are the characters. Maybe this is the reason this show has only two seasons but in my opinion, this show was quite fun to watch with some cameos of the original cast.
