The episode kickstarted with the conflict between Uryu and Renji. Kenpachi and Mayuri encounter Pernida while heading toward the castle. Kenpachi wasn’t familiar with the opponent’s abilities, so he got injured in this confrontation. However, Kenpachi didn’t care about his injury and attacked Pernida, whose abilities perplexed Mayuri.
Madarame and Ayasegawa scouted the conflict from a distance, and they started thinking that it was good that they did not go with their captain. Kenpachi decided to sever his right arm to prevent the poison from spreading to other body parts. Mayuri warned Kenpachi not to proceed with the conflict, but he didn’t listen and charged an attack on Pernida. However, Kenpachi was overwhelmed by the opponent’s powers, and that’s when Mayuri had to take charge. He started observing Pernida’s abilities, and as he studied the enemy thoroughly, he summoned the modified Bankai.
