Henry Cavill Might Be Replacing Hugh Jackman As Wolverine And I Can T Keep Calm

According to the report brought to us by Giant Freaking Robot, we will get to see Henry Cavill play a variant of Wolverine who will not be wearing a Wolverine suit but will be seen sporting a long, brown coat marking his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, the thing to keep in mind here is that GFR has kind of a bad track record with rumors so I would take this one with a pinch of salt. However, not gonna lie, that look of Wolverine on Henry Cavill will look absolutely amazing.

Is Henry Cavill’s Wolverine a One-and-Done Thing?

According to the report, Henry Cavill’s appearance as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 will be a one-time thing and later, he might appear in a different role. However, I have a different opinion on that. I believe, that if Marvel signed a contract with a super-popular A-list actor, why would they do it for just a cameo, wasting the potential of the role? Marvel isn’t DCEU after all, right? Image Courtesy: IMDb As far as I think, if Henry Cavill makes his appearance as Wolverine in Deadpool and Wolverine, he will continue to play the role in future MCU projects and this will not be a one-off appearance. Now you must be thinking “But wasn’t it supposed to be Hugh Jackman?” well, I’ve got a theory for that.

Is Henry Cavill the New Wolverine for the MCU?

With Henry Cavill’s rumored appearance, I have some theories of my own to support the idea of the ex-Superman being the “new Wolverine” for the MCU. First off, let me give you folks some context. So, I’m pretty sure that you must have watched the OG X-Men movies made by Fox Studios. Those X-Men movies are set in a different universe altogether called Earth-10005. With Deadpool and Wolverine, I assume that something has happened to that timeline. It collapsed because of reasons we don’t know yet, causing all the mutants in the universe to travel to Earth-616, the main Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. Now, Deadpool and Wolverine are on a mission to fix this, and on their way they will encounter Cavill’s Wolverine who turns out to be the Earth 616 Wolverine who will somehow help out Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine in their mission.
Once the mission is done, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will return to Earth-10005 and Henry Cavill’s Wolverine will stay and be seen in further Marvel projects. This makes more sense to me because as of now, it will need a long time for Marvel to build a new character from scratch and get them to join the Avengers before the events of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, now renamed Avengers 5.
It’s much easier to pass the mantle of a well-established character to an actor who can wield it perfectly, and I think, Henry Cavill can be a great Wolverine. What do you think?
