We’ve seen Google change a lot of UI/UX components since Android 12, but one of the UI panels that still uses the old sliders and not the Material You-styled ones is the volume control panel. For those unaware, it pops up when you press the volume rocker and tap the three dots. Mishaal Rahman (via Android Authority) was able to manually activate the new Volume Control panel on the latest Android 15 Developer Preview.
According to Android Authority‘s Mishaal Rehman, Google is tweaking the Quick Settings panel in Android 16 to fit more toggles. To do this, they are introducing resizable tiles inside Android 16 Quick Settings that users can expand or shrink based on their preference. This change comes in the latest Android 15 QPR Beta 3 but requires a bit of tinkering to enable it.
This will let you fit in up to 16 toggles at a time, from the current maximum of 8.
According to Bloomberg, Apple’s senior executives decided to wind down the electric car project in recent weeks. The Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Williams, and the Vice President, Kevin Lynch internally disclosed this decision on February 27, 2024. Nearly 2000 employees were working on the project, and they were left stunned by this announcement. As the company decided to shut down the project, some employees will be moved to Apple’s Generative AI team which is led by John Giannandrea.
Apple’s AI Coaching Service Coming Soon! According to a report by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, Apple is looking to increase its focus on fitness and wellness. In order to do so, the company is working on an AI-coaching model, along with a new technology to track mood. The key hardware for this implementation will be your Apple Watch. The rumored concept for this project codenamed “Quartz” is that it will collect data from your Apple Watch and infuse it with AI to help you maintain healthy eating habits, develop healthy sleeping patterns, and ultimately stay motivated to exercise.
16-Inch iPad Might Be Coming in 2023 A recent report by The Information (paywalled) reveals that a person close to the matter has hinted at the launch of a 16-inch iPad in Q4 2023. If this happens, this would be Apple’s first large-screen iPad, bigger than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Apple Watch Pro Renders Leaked A few CAD renders of the Apple Watch Pro have appeared (courtesy of 91Mobiles) and they show off a large, flat display with really thin bezels. It is believed to be 49mm in size, the biggest for Apple yet. The right edge houses the Digital Crown, the mic, and another button, all residing in a protrusion. What’s interesting is that there’s an extra button that is seen on the left side of the frame.
