Pokemon Spotlight Hours: Best Tips
Spotlight Hours are special weekly events in Pokemon GO that happen every Tuesday evening. For one hour, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM your local time, a specific Pokemon appears much more frequently in the wild. Along with increased spawns of the featured Pokemon, each Spotlight Hour comes with a special bonus that applies to all Pokemon you interact with during that hour.
Here’s what you need to know to get ready for these events. First, check your bag space. You’ll want plenty of Pokeballs since you’ll be catching a lot of Pokemon in a short time. Regular Pokeballs work fine, but having some Great and Ultra Balls ready for any stubborn catches is smart.
For the February 4 evolution XP bonus, save up the Pokemon you want to evolve beforehand. You can also use a Lucky Egg to double your XP gains, making each evolution worth even more. During the February 11 Luvdisc spotlight, consider using Star Pieces to boost your stardust earnings even further. Regular catches with double stardust plus a Star Piece can really add up. For the Unova starters on February 25, Pinap Berries will be your best friend. With the double catch candy bonus, each catch with a Pinap Berry will give you even more candy to help with those evolutions.
Remember that these events always run for exactly one hour, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM in your local time. While shiny rates aren’t boosted during spotlight hours, the increased spawns mean more chances to find one if you’re lucky.
Incense and lures work normally during these events, so feel free to use them if you want to attract even more Pokemon. Just make sure you have enough space in your Pokemon storage before the event starts. There’s nothing worse than having to clean out your storage while a spotlight hour is running.
Whether you’re hunting for shinies, stocking up on candy, or just filling out your Pokedex, February’s spotlight hours have something for everyone. So which spotlight hour are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below.
