How Did Salvatore Maroni Die in The Penguin?

Salvatore Maroni dies of a heart attack while trying to escape from the clutches of Oz. Following his mother’s abduction, Oz is approached by Salvatore’s men, who take him to their boss. Seeing him, Sal couldn’t control his rage and started beating Oz instantly with the stick that he got from the enemy’s apartment. Initially, Sal has the upper hand over Oz as no one from his army is there to support him. ‘They were my blood, My Wife,’ says Sal while beating him. He then says that Oz has to hand over the shipment of the new drugs to Sofia if he wants his mother back.
Oz would not give up so easily, so he led Sal and his men to his base of operations, where his men waited for the enemies. One of Oz’s men turned off the lights, and the fight between the two armies commenced. Just when Oz is about to kill Sal, he dies of a heart attack. Oz never wanted him to die like that, as he wanted to kill him with his own hands. So, he shoots the already dead enemy multiple times for satisfaction.

How Does Salvatore Maroni Die in Comics?

In the comics, Sal Maroni opposes several powerful DC characters and dies at the hands of characters like Holiday and Harvey Dent. Sal was the one to create two-face out of Harvey by disfiguring his face by throwing acid on him. So, Harvey Dent killing Sal is the character’s story coming full circle.
While Sal’s story went in different directions throughout his journey in DC comics, in most scenarios, he was brought down by Harvey Dent. In fact, it was hinted in the comics that Holiday, who, in one comic book edition, killed Sal, was Harvey Dent in disguise. However, in the Penguin TV show, it was heart disease that killed Sal.
