Who Becomes Seasmoke Rider In House Of The Dragon Season 2 Episode 6
Addam Hull, Lord Corlys’ Illegitimate Son, Rides Seasmoke
If you haven’t been aware, season 2 of House of the Dragon surprisingly gave away an answer to one of the longstanding mysteries that kept the book readers pondering. Princess Rhaenys stated earlier in episode 4 that she was aware of Alyn’s identity and that Lord Corlys needed to raise and respect him. This essentially confirmed that the brothers Alyn and Addam Hull are illegitimate children of Lord Corlys and Marilda of Hull. That makes them the first “dragon seeds” we have come across in the show.
Even in today’s episode 6, Alyn talked about how “the Sea Snake (Lord Corlys) would have High Tide claimed by the sea than call them his sons.” Addam remarked how his father continued to ignore him as he always had. While Alyn didn’t desire it, it is evident that Addam desired the noble title and the wealth that comes with it. Furthermore, what else did he desire for is none other than the dragons as he looked like he was fascinated by them in earlier episodes.
Addam Hull Claims Seasmoke Dragon
Luckily, the fierce Seasmoke dragon who smoked Ser Steffon Darklyn to crisp earlier roamed in search of a master at the end. Seasmoke sensed the Velaryon blood within Addam Hull and appeared in front of him. It should be noted that House Targaryen as well as House Velaryon roots from the old Valerian who are also known as “the Blood of the Dragon.”
Therefore, as teased earlier, Addam Hull is the new dragon rider in town and he is the one who rides the untamed Seasmoke dragon now in House of the Dragon. In the beginning, Ser Laenor Velaryon (first son of Lord Corlys) rode Seasmoke before he disappeared. Now, the same dragon has chosen his half-brother, Addam Hull (who will be legitimized soon along with his brother to be considered Velaryons) to be its new master. This is a wonderful and surprising connection that is the same in GRRM’s book as well. Let’s wait and see how Addam is going to play an important role with Seasmoke in the Dance of the Dragons.
