Sidewinder Is a Mercenary and the Leader of the Serpent Society

In Marvel Comics, Seth Voelker aka Sidewinder used to be a professor of economics, however, he was dismissed from his position. Desperate for employment, he was taken in by Roxxon Oil Company but he did not know that he was being hired to do the company’s dirty work. He took up the name of Sidewinder because of his ability to teleport and travel through dimensions using a cloak.
The president of Roxxon, Hugh Jones formed a team of mercenaries including Anaconda, Black Mamba, and their leader Sidewinder. He called the team Serpent Squad and sent them on their first mission to recover an artifact called the Serpent Crown. However, the team was intercepted by The Thing and Triton but somehow Sidewinder managed to escape with the crown.
After this, Sidewinder left Roxxon, invited his former comrades and some other snake-themed villains, and formed the Serpent Society. With Sidewinder’s economic knowledge, this team of mercenaries became the most feared team in the United States.

Giancarlo Esposito’s Sidewinder Will Be Different in Captain America 4

Giancarlo Esposito is undoubtedly a massive addition to the MCU. Initially, the identity of his character was unknown but now we know that Esposito will appear in Captain America Brave New World as Sidewinder. However, as compared to his comic book counterpart, Marvel might have changed a few things. It would be extremely difficult to portray Sidewinder with comic accuracy in Captain America: Brave New World and hence we could see a different version of the character who is just a mercenary instead of being the leader of Serpent Society.
