Wuthering Waves Pity System Explained

What is Soft and Hard Pity in Gacha Games

For players new to gacha games, the Pity system is a way to guarantee 5-star rewards, characters, or weapons, after a certain number of unsuccessful attempts have been made in the banner. In most gacha games (including Wuthering Waves), the Soft Pity starts building after a certain number of unsuccessful banner pulls, increasing the drop rate of a five-star reward with each pull until it becomes a guaranteed pull, also called Hard Pity. In simpler words, the Pity system prevents the banners from becoming completely randomized, and rewards players for their efforts by giving a guaranteed 5-star reward at Hard Pity. Thus, pitying on players’ bad luck and rewarding them.

Wuthering Waves Limited Convene Pity System

In Wuthering Waves, the event or limited banner has a Hard Pity of 80. The soft pity starts building from the 50th pull, all the way to 80, which is a guaranteed 5-star drop. This is true for both the Character and Weapon banners. Players must use the Radiant Tides, or convert Astrites into one, to pull from the limited banners.

For 5-star character banners, players have a 50% chance to get the featured 5-star Resonator on the pity. If the pulled Resonator is not the featured Resonator, then the next 5-star Resonator pulled is guaranteed to be the featured Resonator. For 5-star Weapon banners, players are guaranteed to get the featured 5-star weapon at the 80th hard pity.

Other than that, the featured 4-star characters and weapons also have an increased drop. Every ten convene guarantees one 4-star drop for both character and weapon banners.

Wuthering Waves Standard Convene Pity System

The Standard Convene in Wuthering Waves uses Lustrous Tides as the banner currency. The pity system in the Standard Convene is similar to the limited convene, building up from the 50th pull to the 80th pull.

For standard character banner, players have a 20% chance to get one of the five featured 5-star Resonator on the pity. For standard weapon banner, players can select one of the five featured 5-star weapons to pull it guaranteed on the 80th hard pity. The select 5-star weapon can be changed anytime and doesn’t affect the pity build-up.
